Conversations at Glumm & Co.

The Hotel That Changed the Way We Think About Home

A conversation with Adela and Luisa about discovering that the most meaningful spaces aren't remembered for their luxury — but for the peace they leave behind.

There are places we remember for how they looked. And then there are places we remember for how they made us feel.

Every home begins with a feeling. Before the furniture. Before the floor plan. Before the colors.

At Glumm & Co., we often find ourselves talking less about design and more about the emotions a space can create. We call them spaces for living because, in the end, that's what we believe we're truly designing.

Recently, we sat down with founders Adela and Luisa to talk about the places that have shaped the way they think about home. The conversation began with a simple question.

Is there a place that has changed the way you see design?

Adela

There is. A few years ago, I stayed at Il Sereno, on Lake Como.

People often assume it was the architecture that inspired me. Or the furniture. Or the materials. But it wasn't any of those things. It was the feeling.

I remember waking up in the morning, opening the windows, and feeling an overwhelming sense of peace. Everything felt intentional. Nothing competed for attention. Nothing felt excessive. There wasn't visual noise. There was simply… calm.

That trip reminded me that the most memorable spaces aren't always the most extravagant ones.

They're the ones that make you slow down. They're the ones that let you breathe.
Adela

What stayed with you after you came home?

Adela

The realization that people aren't really searching for luxury. They're searching for peace.

Sometimes we think we need a bigger house. A new dining table. A different sofa. But often, what we're really craving is the feeling that everything around us finally makes sense. That our home gives us permission to pause.

That idea has stayed with me ever since.

Luisa, when people come to Glumm & Co., what do you think they're really looking for?

Luisa

Most people think they're coming to us because they need help furnishing a home. But after talking with them, you realize that's rarely the real reason.

They're entering a new chapter. Maybe they're moving into their first apartment. Maybe they're welcoming a baby. Maybe they've just bought the home they've dreamed about for years.

They're not asking us to select furniture. They're asking us to help shape the backdrop for their lives. That's a very different responsibility.

You often use the phrase “spaces for living.” What does it mean?

Luisa

To us, a home shouldn't feel like a showroom. It should feel lived in.

It should invite people to gather. To cook together. To sit a little longer after dinner. To leave a book open because they'll come back to it tomorrow.

A beautiful home isn't one where everything is perfectly styled.

It's one where life happens naturally. That's what we mean by spaces for living.
Luisa

Adela, can a home be beautiful without feeling like home?

Adela

Absolutely. We've all been inside homes that are visually stunning. Every object is beautiful. Every corner is perfectly composed.

And yet… you don't feel like sitting down. You don't feel like staying. You admire the space, but you never become part of it.

For me, that's the difference.

A beautiful room catches your attention. A home welcomes you in.
Adela

If there is one thing you hope every client feels, what would it be?

Luisa

I hope they walk through the front door and immediately exhale. I hope they feel like they're exactly where they're meant to be.

Not because everything is expensive. Not because everything is perfect. But because the space reflects who they are.

That's always our goal. To create homes that feel personal. Calm. Effortless. Authentic.

More Than Beautiful Interiors

At Glumm & Co., we believe that design is never about filling a room with beautiful things. It's about creating a place where everyday life feels better.

A place where conversations happen around the kitchen island. Where children grow up surrounded by warmth instead of perfection. Where Sunday mornings unfold slowly. Where coming home feels like taking a deep breath.

The spaces we remember most are rarely the ones that impressed us. They're the ones that made us feel something.

That's why we don't simply design interiors. We create spaces for living.

Tell us about the life you want the room to hold

Not the square footage, not the style name — the mornings, the dinners, the way you want to feel walking in. That's where we start.
